Even if they can't earn enough miles for the whole

To be fair, I should point out that most
other airline programs offer domestic
award roundtrips for as few as 25,000 miles — but it's getting increasingly difficult to find
awards at that level.
Other awards that could be considered worthwhile are JAL Business Class and First Class
awards to Tokyo (120,000 and 180,000 miles respectively for a
roundtrip).
Many
award tickets, such as flights to Europe, are on par with those of
other competing airlines, with economy tickets starting at 60,000 miles
roundtrip plus taxes and fees.
I already had a return ticket, but you could use a United free one way to maximize your
award if you book a
roundtrip on Lufthansa or
other Star Alliance carrier using United miles.
In terms of comparison to
other airlines, two domestic
roundtrip award tickets in economy class on United would require 50,000 miles.

award using US Airways Dividend miles for half the price of a
roundtrip — you'd pay the same amount as the

other, you can buy one $ 350 paid ticket and redeem 12,500 miles, getting 2 cents per redeemed mile.
