Massachusetts College of Art and Design's Bakalar & Paine Galleries are a venue unlike any other, offering professionally and imaginatively curated exhibitions featuring influential, emerging and well - known artists from throughout the world of contemporary art in the largest free contemporary art space in New England.

In 2001, Lia Gangitano founded PARTICIPANT INC, a not - for - profit art space on the Lower East Side of New York, presenting exhibitions by Virgil Marti, Charles Atlas, Kathe Burkhart, Michel Auder, and Renée Green, among others.
This is just one example of how in this exhibition the poetical / political readings of various works can be brought to the fore, and how by way of a theatrical staging they will activate each other and the space in which they are seen.
