Massachusetts College of Art and Design's Bakalar & Paine Galleries are a venue unlike any other, offering professionally and imaginatively curated exhibitions featuring influential, emerging and well - known artists from throughout the world of contemporary art in the largest free contemporary art space in New England.

The Nevelson piece, Sky Cathedral / Southern Mountain, 1959, which was borrowed from LA MoCA, is installed somewhat differently than these other works, directly on the floor in a portion of the room where the ceiling is lower.It looks consistent with similar Nevelsons I viewed at Pace Gallery or the Jewish Museum in New York during the»80s and»90s, before the advent of the enormity of scale that typifies so many of the new exhibition spaces of today.

Rasgado's architectural installation consists of wooden beams and drywall fragments recycled from used museum exhibitions that he reconfigures to create exhibition spaces for the works of the other artists.

Showcasing works that have transformed the public space of the city and also altered public expectations and the role of art outside the museums and galleries, the exhibition will include renderings, models, photographs and video footage of work by artists such as Red Grooms, Christo and Jeanne - Claude, and Kara Walker, among others.

In the largest gallery space of the exhibition is a screen projecting a Japanese mask artisan making masks of James Bond, Anthony Blunt, Colonel Sanders, Joseph Hirshhorn, and others presumably to be used in a play.

The collective set up its own space, Hafriyat - Karaköy, in 2006, holding exhibitions and gatherings, and hosting other artists and collectives who deal with similar issues — many of whom I mention below.

This great art space has organized an amazing group exhibition in Nuremberg, featuring works by some of the most notable representatives of the always popular Pop Art Movement among others (be sure to check out our article about the impact of Pop Art on the world of fashion).

Over the previous 17 years Robertson had transformed the Whitechapel from an essentially local amenity into the country's most exciting exhibition space; a series of groundbreaking shows by Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Robert Rauschenberg, among many others, had opened British eyes to American abstract expressionism.

With five current exhibitions on view (two permanents and three temporary), is a museological space of reference in Lisbon, where the visitor can enjoy the best of modern and contemporary art, hosting the Berardo Collection with its more than 70 artistic tendencies and more than 900 works that demonstrates its strong museological and didactic nature, with works by artists like Marcel Duchamp, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Man Ray, Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon, Jackson Pollock, Gerhard Richter, James Rosenquist, Alexander Calder, Jean Dubuffet, Yves Klein, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, Helena Almeida, Louise Bourgeois, Dan Flavin, Andreas Gursky, Nan Goldin, Rebecca Horn, Donald Judd, Anish Kapoor, Jeff Koons, Nam June Paik, Frank Stella, Bill Viola, among many others.

In 2001, Lia Gangitano founded PARTICIPANT INC, a not - for - profit art space on the Lower East Side of New York, presenting exhibitions by Virgil Marti, Charles Atlas, Kathe Burkhart, Michel Auder, and Renée Green, among others.

This is just one example of how in this exhibition the poetical / political readings of various works can be brought to the fore, and how by way of a theatrical staging they will activate each other and the space in which they are seen.
