Adding berries, bananas, apples, carrots and
other sweeter vegetables will make spirulina far tastier than it is on its own or with other greens.
And to those who are nervous about kale: I actually find it very sweet (like spinach) when cooked with
other sweet vegetables (like zucchini, sweet potatoes).

I like to top mine with more crunchy pumpkin seeds and
sweet pomegranate seeds, but you can really personalize this with whatever you'd like and add
other fall
vegetables like roasted squash.
It is also so versatile that any ingredients can be added or substituted like lentils,
other vegetables and the potatoes can even be substituted for
sweet potato mash.

sweet potato, cubed / 2 or 3 medium potatoes, cubed / 2 small or 1 medium parsnip, cubed / 1 turnip, cubed / 2 C kale or cabbage, shredded / 2 — 3 t curry powder or 1/2 t red or green Thai curry paste, 2 t salt (to taste), 1/2 t pepper, plus
other optional spices: 2 t turmeric, 1/2 t red pepper flakes or 2 t finely chopped jalapeno / 1, 12 oz.
Directions: Using a mortar and pestle, or a small grinder, mix garlic, ginger and half of the peanut oil to form a thick paste / Add
other spices, half of the water (1/2 C) to this mix, stir together and set aside / In a sauce pan, heat the
other tablespoon of oil to medium hot, add cumin and mustard seeds and allow them to sizzle momentarily / Add spice paste, turn heat to medium low, and while stirring, allow to cook for 1 to 2 minutes / Add cauliflower and potatoes,
sweet or hot pepper if using / Stir together so that
vegetables are coated with the spices / Add the
other 1/2 C water, place a lid on, and simmer for 10 — 15 minutes, until
vegetables are tender / Remove lid and simmer for another 5 minutes / If
vegetables are done, remove them from the pan and continue to simmer the sauce until it reduces and thickens slightly — just a minute or two / Add roasted asparagus to the bowl / Spoon sauce over winter and spring veggies, sprinkle with chives.
Some
other soups what you may like — veg manchow soup, phool gobi soup, creamy tomato soup, onion soup,
sweet soup with ripe tomatoes and tapioca pearls, carrot soup for all spicy soup lovers, crispy
vegetable soup with fried corn flour and
vegetables etc..
But what about claims that you can do a better job of protecting against hypertension (and
other problems) by substituting more healthy carb - rich
vegetables, like
sweet potatoes?
