out of afternoon naps, but who still need some «down time» activities, but we don't have something for bedtime.

out everybody's kind
of on the same
afternoon nap so we had it in the morning when kids are happiest.
It has been 9 weeks
of it and a few days ago I was in his room waiting for him to go to sleep for his
afternoon nap, he was really messing about so I said «this isnt funny now, Mommy is going you have to go to sleep» I walked
out of the room waiting for him to start crying, but he did nt.
This may mean some late
afternoon naps when they come home from school, or tough mornings getting them
out of bed, but it's just like anything else in parenting — it will pass.
While most children this age still conk
out for one to three hours each
afternoon, some kids at the older end
of this range no longer need an
afternoon nap.
8 month old boy (who's in transition from nursing to formula & solids) 8 am - wake, diaper, nurse for 5 - ish minutes 8:30 am - breakfast in high chair (4 oz bottle + solids) 9:00 - 9:45 ish - play time (independent play then reading books & getting ready for
nap) 10am - 11:30 am - morning
nap 11:30 - 12 pm - wake up from
nap, diaper, get dressed for day, etc ** if we go
out to run errands this is the time we leave, and and we will stop to eat lunch while
out 12 pm - lunch (8oz bottle + solids) 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm - play time 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm -
afternoon nap 3:30 - 4 pm - play time 4 pm - eat (8oz bottle + snack such as cheerios) 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm - play time (if he woke up early from
afternoon nap, then sometimes he still takes a short cat
nap during this timeframe 6:30 pm - dinner with family (solids in high chair) 7:00 pm - outdoor play time (baby swing, take a walk, etc) 8:00 pm - start
of an 8oz bottle 8:30 pm - bath time, read books, finish rest
of bottle 9:00 pm - bedtime.
The morning
of day 2 she was holding it all morning until her
nap time, that
afternoon, she had 2 accidents and both time she was completely terrified, crying uncontrollably, and asking for her pants on, we decided to put training pants on her and see how it goes, she had another accident, when we took the training pants off her she was freaking
out, and screaming to put them back on her.
Small children might have the freedom to wander in and
out of houses, play ball in the middle
of the road, and plop down for an
afternoon nap on a neighbor's sofa.
So after half an hour
of trying to put her back down, you finally give in, hoping she'll be that much more tired when her
afternoon nap rolls around, only to have the exact same scenario play
out again, and baby is a cranky ball
of unhappiness for the rest
of the day.
I pull the black -
out curtains shut during the
afternoon to block
out a lot
of the daylight for
nap time, and in the morning, as the sun is coming up, they're a lifesaver for blocking most
of that bright morning light that would otherwise wake her up like a rooster at 5 am.
On warm
afternoons the bumping
of the wheels over gravel roads and the rhythmic clopping
of hooves made me sleepy, and I loved stretching
out in the back
of the wagon and
napping on a bale
of hay.
With it's dolce far niente attitude, you're invited to «tune in, drop
out and be here now» by enjoying the gentle breeze while you swing in the hammock grove,
nap in the warmth
of the
afternoon sun, or simply relax on the porch
of your yurt sipping a cup
of coffee.
We opted for the early boat tour as the early bird usually «gets the worm» or in this case, a nice
afternoon nap before heading back
out to enjoy the rest
of the day.
Since my wife and I are newbies, we opted
out of some
of the more difficult dives (or
napped during the
afternoon dives), but here is a synopsis
of some
of the dive we did do.
Move to the lounge area on the terrace to read or
nap, take a swim in the infinity pool, spend the
afternoon on a chaise longue on the lawn or on the beach just beyond and try
out local seafood on the barbecue before watching the sunset from the terrace or one
of the balconies.
If I lived here, I wouldn't mind if it rained because the sound
of the rain on a tin roof would lull me into a restful
afternoon nap before I went
out to play in the garden after the rain passes.
