Glimmering strands of gold lamé, which Gallaccio drapes from the gallery walls, add further contrast to the rotting flowers and their fabricated doppelgängers, like «where do i begin,» a branch decorated with glossy red berries, made
out of cast bronze and crimson beads.

out in layers, which he set between four 500 - pound blocks
of concrete stacked in a modernist - style monolith.

Each
of the sculptures» light fittings has been
cast in
bronze, creating a condition whereby the lamps can never be in a state
of illumination, devoid
of their function — essentially rendering them «Dead Stars», ghostly and hollowed
out.
Joel Shapiro has built his sculptures
out of wood, wire, and
cast bronze, relying on space and the position and proximity
of the viewer to play with perception.
The inaugural Triennial in 2008 brought together 22 works by significant artists, including Christian Boltanski's sound installation
of letters
of First World War servicemen being read as one sat upon a bench at the site where these men were shipped off to battle, staring
out into the sea, and Tracey Emin's work «Baby Things» — a spattering
of bronze -
cast baby clothes strewn across the city paying homage to the vast number
of teenage mothers that inhabit these seaside towns such as Folkestone, and Margate, Emin's notorious hometown.
The
bronze cast of a fist with an
