out of lettuce, I reach for the red cabbage.
I love kale salad, but only seem to make it when I am
out of lettuce.

Eating
out when you're the only one
of your friends who is a raw vegan usually means being limited to plates
of lettuce topped with sprinklings
of social awkwardness.
Thanks Jennifer - it's the first time I've grilled
lettuce, I was a little skeptical, but I love how it turned
out — the heat just kind
of «tenderized» it.
Since my extreme Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis one year ago,
lettuce wraps are one
of my go - to low carb hot weather favorites, whether cooking at home or dining
out (I usually find them in the appetizer or salad section
of restaurant menus).
Lately we've been eating several salads for lunch and / or dinners — not ones that are just
lettuce on a plate with a bit
of dressing, but with every vegetable we can find — often good for those «clean
out your fridge» meals.
Changes I would make: None are necessary but like I mentioned, I might sub
out some
of the cabbage for romaine or leaf
lettuce for my husband's sake.
You can even double it, scoop
out the flesh
of leftover servings and serve them over salad greens, under eggs, in
lettuce wraps... the list goes on and on.
I was the only one who had a salad — I was
out of iceburg and that's the only
lettuce Tony and Hannah will eat.
In fact, I almost rarely have tomatoes in my
lettuce now because
of going
out to restaurants and having them not understand the great combinations that can come together because
of the word «salad».
Portion
out the soy - lime Seitan on top
of the mayo then load on the
lettuce, pineapple (or mango), tomatoes and cilantro.

out a carb - filled pizza crust base for a more figure - friendly vessel
of lettuce.
Paired with crisp grape tomatoes, fresh
lettuces, creamy avocado, and crunchy tortilla chips, this salad is going to blow all other taco salads
out of the water.
Certainly not something available everywhere, as
lettuce is
out of season in many parts
of the country right now.
