Slowly working my way through the
sweet treat pages
of the blog and
so far everything I have tried (
sweet potato brownies and oat cookies) have worked
out amazing.
I did today, which was
so awesome!!!! My blender was broken and sent back to repair,
so i had to do everything manually, from smashing the
sweet potato & dates, crushing the nuts (I used hazelnut) into flour (this one was hard,
so finally its more like bits...), and left
out for the agave syrup (was
so sweet for me already), though it was lots
of work but just
so great!
My
sweet potatoes were a bit old / dry
so I added about half a cup
of water and came
out with much shorter brownies than yours but it was still delicious.
I, like you, am a HUGE FAN
of sweet potatoes (I love both the orange and purple varieties)
so am truly excited to see how this turns
out — delish I bet, just like your «Cinnamon and Paprika
Sweet Potato Wedges».

At the time, I was coming home from work to an always empty house, laying on the floor for an hour to re-calibrate from my day, working myself into a 30 minute or

of greens), working another couple hours just to survive the next school day, and falling into bed into a deep and dreamless sleep before my alarm clock wrenched me

They turned
out absolutely scrumptious, but i made the mistake
of using quite creamy mashed
sweet potatoes,
so they kept falling apart in the waffle iron.
I ran
out of my baked
sweet potatoes so I just steamed them.

out ingredients to give it a different spin each time,
sweet potatoes instead
of white, black beans instead
of pintos, collard greens or kale to give it a nutritional boost... But I'm fortunate to live in a place where there is a lot
of diverse cuisine available in either dining
out or ethnic market formats,
so I don't have to choose just one:)
Had to throw
out a fourth
of my mushrooms due to rot,
so I used a whole
sweet potato instead
of the carrot.
Not only was this the first time I've tried
sweet potato pie, but it was also my first homemade pie ever, and I was
so proud
of how it turned
out!
Cut each
potato in half with a serrated knife, then scoop
out the insides into a bowl, making sure to keep a layer
of sweet potato within the skin
so that it can stand on its own.
Only thing I did differently was cooked the lentils for 20 minutes, then added the
sweet potatoes for another 20 minutes,
so I think I cut 10 minutes
out of the recipe.
Scrape the
sweet potato out of the peel, but leave a thin layer inside with the skin
so that the skin holds its shape.
We are currently on a mission
of fridge clean - up
so my eats for the past couple days look something like these: Breakfast / post WO meal Today I only had baked
sweet potato as my breakfast since we ran
out of eggs.
If you're like my mom, you may be weirded
out by the idea
of a
sweet potato dessert (to be fair, she's also one
of those anti-pumpkin people), but but BUT, think about it...
sweet potato adds moisture just like pumpkin, but it's
sweeter,
so it works perfectly in these little spiced cakes.
So when I saw a recipe for healthy
sweet potato pizza,
of course I had to check it
out.
However,
sweet potatoes don't make it into my house much,
so I used a couple
of regular
potatoes and it turned
out fantastic!
I had broccoli for breakfast just
so I could drizzle this on it.I bake a bunch
of sweet potatoes at the start
of the week to have for breakfast,
so I just slipped one
out of its skin into the food processor.
Sweet potatoes however, are
so much more flavorful than ordinary
potatoes so I couldn't wait to try
out one
of the 4 versions
of roast
sweet potato, the Mexican variety.
I'll admit that I had some reservations about making a quesadilla filling
out of mashed
sweet potatoes when I first came up with this crazy idea, but I'm
so glad I followed through with it!
So if you're ever
out of pumpkin, but you've got a
sweet potato lying around, put it to work in this recipe!
Mine seem to come
out a bit to runny
so the third time I made them I only used 3/4 to one cup
of sweet potato and they are closer to yours but still not as dark.
I'm often too lazy to make the Paleo hamburger buns,
so I'll just eat it
out of the bowl plain with veggies or on a baked
sweet potato and let my children use some whole wheat bread to eat with them.
I love seeing her
so excited to chow down on a hunk
of banana in her baby safe feeder or trying to figure
out what to do with bits
of sweet potato.
While I was busy with the
sweet potatoes, turkey, gravy, etc., the kids asked to help
so I pulled
out the crinkle cutter and a bag
of carrots.
Instead
of cutting
out all pasta and breads, switch to whole grain products such as brown rice, whole grain breads, quinoa,
sweet potato and
so forth.
So it's really just a carb tolerance test and actually Rob Wolf talks about this in his book as well, where based on some research
out of Israel, there was a study done following 800 different people and they found that you could give two people the exact same carbohydrate source whether it's
sweet potato or bread or lentils and they would have very different postprandial glucose responses.
Now I do do some
sweet potatoes and things in the evening
so I likely pull myself
out of that
so this is something that this is gonna depend on the person but you can touch in to ketosis — you do some carbs, don't you?
A
sweet potato doesn't «knock you
out»
of ketosis for days; slipping back in just happens because you're
so accustomed to it.
So I started thinking that if I attempted to make fries
out of them like
sweet potato or regular fries it may be tasty....

You can definitely eat
sweet potatoes, my rough recommendation is 50 grams
of sugar per day (which can average
out,
so 30 grams one day, 70 another), which
sweet potatoes can easily fit into.
Also, they have very healthy and
so tasty salads and sandwiches,
out of which my favourite are their avocado salad and
sweet potato — feta cheese — avocado sandwich.
