You can definitely eat sweet potatoes, my rough recommendation is 50 grams of sugar per day (which can average out, so 30 grams one day, 70 another), which sweet potatoes can easily fit into.
Also, they have very healthy and so tasty salads and sandwiches, out of which my favourite are their avocado salad and sweet potato — feta cheese — avocado sandwich.
