The moral
of the
story is that the way to
beat the ever - loving shit
out of someone is to be psychopathically calm while you're doing it.
Here is the
story of a man whose first pivotal memory is as a young servant picking cotton at a farm in the South, helplessly watching his father being murdered in cold blood for daring to call
out the owner for raping and
beating his mother, and whose final scenes in the movie see him visiting the White House after voting for the first African American President
of the United States.
When Boreman came

Right from the start

Manhattan gets a little samey during the

In the middle
of shooting his third feature, Soft in the Head, he decided to steer the improvised film's narrative arc in a new direction, retreating to the roof
of the apartment building where he was shooting to scrawl

of photography and frequent collaborator.
Be aware that I'm not keeping things vague for the sake
of being vague, or attempting to present these
story beats to you in a mysterious or illogical way: this is how the
story plays
out, heavy on style — everything's very Lynchian in its dreaminess — and very low on things like «reality» or «recognizable actions being undertaken by characters that we can identify with».
I
beat the game's
story mode in roughly 30 hours but there is easily triple that playtime available to the player if they squeeze every drop
out of the countless side -
stories and mini-games.
The biggest problem with the
story is how trite and generic it all plays
out, with all
of the expected
story beats and Sci - Fi tropes present and accounted for; the game thinks it's being clever at times but, in all honesty, it's so predictable that it essentially became background noise for me after an hour or two as I feigned surprise at all the tired plot revelations.
This is the biggest Marvel Studios film to date — the
story plays
out on a global scale and the main cast reaches double digits — but many
of its best moments are small, throwaway
beats: Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), who is cramped in the back
of a small car, asking a surly Falcon (Anthony Mackie) to move his seat up; a starstruck Ant - Man (Paul Rudd) so giddy about meeting Captain America (Chris Evans) he practically asks for a selfie; Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) teaching the synthetic Vision (Paul Bettany) how to properly use paprika in a recipe; Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) casually flirting with Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), to the alarm
of her nephew Peter Parker (Tom Holland).
Story mode which is played
out like a Final Fight type
Beat - em - up offers players the opportunity to wander the streets
of NYC, fighting hordes
of cookie cutter aliens and performing repetitive attacks.
Instead
of allowing the
story beats room to breath, they fly
out in our face, spring - loaded and irrelevant.
One
of them is
beaten to within an inch
of his life and thrown
out of a two -
story window and is last seen covered in bandages in the hospital doing something nice for the person who put him there.
The one poor turn is a dramatic
story beat near the end, which feels
out of place in a game that's otherwise so self - aware and goofy.
Not a huge negative, just what one expects
out of an origin
story by hitting all
of the
beats without excelling in any area.
Just in case you couldn't figure
out the

Product over the May holiday has been severely tepid in recent years, but Disney's Solo: A Star Wars
Story, is primed to churn
out $ 140M - $ 170M over four days, which would reap a holiday record,
beating Pirates
of the Caribbean: At World's End ($ 139.8 M).
Each character is given a galvanizing (and over-the-top) motivation for having to actually kill their boss, instead
of simply quitting, and the overarching
story plays
out in a ridiculous series
of events that, while entertaining from
beat - to -
beat, are especially cartoonish once everything has been wrapped - up in a neat bow.
I don't want to harsh anyone's buzz; there are plenty
of laugh -
out - loud moments and extremely satisfying character
beats, but it also feels like a stock Fox X-Men film with an overblown budget and needless CGI - heavy action scenes that add little to the
story.
Beaten, bruised and afraid, young author Klas Östergren hides
out in a Stockholm apartment, writing the
story of its vanished inhabitants: the flamboyant, charismatic, enigmatic Morgan brothers.
As her
story plays
out, besides a run - in with Skull Kid, she does come into contact with Link's allies and actually does help them, especially at the end
of the
story while Link and Zelda are away, having already
beaten Ganon, Hyrule falls under attack once more and it is Linkle, with her compass who save the day.
