therapy, EFT stands
out as a model that enables couples to readily get to their key issues and needs, and

The emphasis on validation in DBT grew
out of observations in the late 1970s that many clients
experienced behavioral
therapy as invalidating; this led to resistance and sometimes withdrawal from
therapy.
Many graduate students in Marriage and Family
Therapy programs actually provide free counseling services in their colleges or
out of community agencies, to gain clinical
experience.
No matter how frequently you go to
therapy or how
experienced your therapist is, you won't get much
out of the process if you're not doing work between sessions.
Even
experienced therapists can become overwhelmed by couples ravaged by infidelity as partners display rage and despair and precipitously drop

Often it is helpful to seek

of support to help us unwind the beliefs and resistances to this
experience that can keep us in a state
of depression, anxiety, fear, or stuckness.
When people
experiencing circumstances like you've described do eventually find themselves in a more stable place emotionally and financially, it can be worthwhile to invest in some
therapy to help explore the factors that led to the relationship in the first place, as well as to emphasize and celebrate the resilience that is right now leading them
out of it.

experience of many years as a Couples Therapist and my evolution
of Encounter - centered Couples
Therapy (EcCT), came an original method for dealing with the core issue
of couples.
