Again, like with the SAT results, Garcia and Tor found that the
number of competitors — this
time perceived — affected the
outcome.
A 2009 study
of seventh and eighth grade students at 10 Boys & Girls Clubs across the country found that those attending afterschool programs skipped school fewer
times, increased school effort, and gained academic confidence; moreover, the first two
outcomes cited above increased as the
number of days attending afterschool programs increased (Arbreton, Bradshaw, Sheldon, & Pepper, 2009).
One
of those
outcomes calls on the district to increase the
time disabled students spend in a general education setting and decrease the
number of students attending classes at isolated special education centers.
At the secondary level, an additional
outcome, or dependent variable predicted is the
number of Regents Exams a student passed for the first
time in the current year.
There is no evidence tying any
of these proposals to better
outcomes for large
numbers of kids over
time.
At a
time when Americans are embracing pet ownership in record
numbers — 65 percent
of American households own pets, totaling 79 million households — it is more important than ever that we move forward with a unified voice and define who we are to become better advocates for legislation that is based on sound science, demonstrated
outcomes and fact - based research to protect our right to own a pet.

As this clip from a 2008 episode makes abundantly clear, theoretical physicist and über - geek Sheldon devises a more complicated version
of the familiar game, assiduously citing research that «players familiar with each other will tie 75 to 80 percent
of the
time due to the limited
number of outcomes.»
iow what Mike said a

of: «Climate Change (is not) a force that influences the

Clusters can also involve a client suing a
number of lawyers who, over
time, genuinely tried to help the client, but no
outcome would ever have been good enough.
The two
outcomes we'll keep an eye on are quality (the probability
of hiring someone in the top 10 per cent
of performance) and
time (the
number of weeks taken on average to fill the role, ignoring cases where the role never gets filled).
The latter are critically important for a
number of positive life
outcomes, including school persistence, full -
time employment, lifetime wages, better health and positive social behaviors.
Healthy child development is the foundation for human capital and the basis for future community and economic development.1 A significant body
of convergent research emphasises the importance
of the prenatal and early years for health and developmental
outcomes throughout the life course.2 For a growing
number of children, suboptimal developmental trajectories are well established by the
time they start school, and become increasingly difficult and costly to modify with the passage
of time.3 Thus, investing in young children is important for the prevention
of disease later in life and contributes to their full participation in society as healthy and productive adults.4, 5
First, unintended pregnancy is associated with negative health consequences, including reduced use
of prenatal care, lower breast - feeding rates, and poor maternal and neonatal
outcomes.1, 2 Second, governments realize substantial cost savings by investing in family planning, which reduces the rate
of unintended pregnancies and the costs
of prenatal, delivery, postpartum, and infant care.3 Third, all Americans have the right to choose the
timing and
number of their children.
I guess children who have a
number of risk factors, and particularly if those are either severe or sustained over
time, are much more at risk
of poor developmental
outcomes than those children who might have exposure to one or two risks, which are either short or intermittent, but there's not that sense
of cumulative risk.
: Evidence From Healthy Families Virginia Huntington & Galano (2014) Zero to Three, 33 (3) View Abstract Reviews a study that compares the
outcomes of mothers who have had previous births and first
time mothers participating in early home - visiting programs and provides findings that measured three aspects
of participation:
time in the program, the
number of home visits, and the intensity
of services.
Outcomes consisted
of women's
number and
timing of subsequent pregnancies, months
of employment, use
of welfare, food stamps, and Medicaid, educational achievement, behavioral problems attributable to the use
of substances, rates
of marriage and cohabitation, and duration
of relationships with partners and their children's behavior problems, responses to story stems, intellectual functioning, receptive language, and academic achievement.
The Karnofsky scale was reportedly valid and reliable in several patient populations.21 In this study good agreement was observed between two raters in the allocation
of patients to the specified
outcome categories (Cohen's (kappa) greater than 0.8 at every
time point).22 Subsidiary measures
of functioning included a patient rating
of interference with daily activities, 23 improvement in employment status, and
number of days spent in bed each week.
In addition, SAMHSA supports the Now Is The
Time: Minority Fellowship Program — Addiction Counselors, which supports students pursuing master's level degrees in addiction / substance abuse counseling as well as the Minority Fellowship Program whose purpose is to reduce health disparities and improve health care
outcomes of racially and ethnically diverse populations by increasing the
number of culturally competent behavioral health professionals available to underserved populations in the public and private nonprofit sectors.
A study
of individual cognitive therapy for bipolar disorder showed positive
outcomes at 1 - year follow - up, but the benefits were reduced over
time, suggesting the need for booster sessions to sustain the gains.19 As with many forms
of therapy, CBT has been found to be more successful in reducing relapse in the depressive pole compared with the manic pole.30 A large randomised trial
of CBT showed no difference between CBT and treatment as usual, when all participants were included in the analyses.31 However, results
of a post-hoc analysis suggested that CBT was effective for participants who reported fewer than 12 prior episodes
of illness and were not acutely unwell when therapy began;
numbers of episodes
of mania rather than depression seemed to predict treatment response.32 Such data can help guide the clinical application
of CBT for bipolar patients.
By school entry, 43 — 47 %
of Aboriginal children have markers
of developmental vulnerability.12, 13 In 2009, the first - ever national census
of childhood development at school entry showed that Aboriginal children were 2 — 3
times more likely than non-Aboriginal children to be developmentally vulnerable — defined as an Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) score below the 10th centile — on one or more domains.14 The Longitudinal Survey
of Australian Children reported similar disparities for cognitive
outcomes among Aboriginal children aged 4 — 5 years, although the
number of Aboriginal children was very small and not representative
of the Aboriginal population.15 There is currently a dearth
of empirical research that identifies the drivers
of positive early childhood health and development in Aboriginal children, or characterises vulnerable developmental trajectories.
Because initial RR analyses revealed both quadratic and linear effects
of time on treatment
outcomes, we computed the log
of the
number of days since randomization for each assessment point and used these log values in all RR analyses.
Even though increasing
numbers of infants and toddlers are moving into out -
of - home care at younger ages and for longer periods
of time, we are missing opportunities to continuously improve quality child care that promotes positive child
outcomes.
Outcome measures included type and
number of placements,
time in foster care before permanent placement, and failure
of a permanent placement.
This gap is surprising considering the suggested reduction in the
number of formal supports available to families over
time [81, 91] and the reported association between professional support and positive
outcomes in mothers
of children with ASD aged 4 to 21 years [62].
