Dr. Fisher believes that dispassionate, rigorous
study of birth
across all settings is more important than ever given disparities in women's access to trained and licensed care providers, current and future physician workforce issues, rising costs of health care, and unacceptably high rates of adverse
outcomes for mothers and infants in the U.S. compared to other industrialized countries.
Because donor milk use in NICU's
across the country is expanding rapidly, this
study highlights the increasing importance of monitoring its infrastructure and reporting

Standardised mean differences were derived to take account of the variety of behavioural
outcome measures included and random effect models adopted in view of variability of the intervention and target populations
across studies.
Our review was restricted to a limited number of behavioural
outcomes and we were unable to exploit the full range of behavioural
outcome measures used
across included
studies and for some
studies reporting of multiple measures of child behaviour in the meta - analysis.
