The West Bund
showing marked the artist's Beijing commission of a monumental
outdoor sculpture to be unveiled in 2017.

It's opening exhibitions were: on the outside terrace «Cosmogonía doméstica» an
outdoor installation by Mexican artist Damian Ortega, on the first floor: «James Lee Byars: 1/2 an Autobiography» co-curated by Peter Eleey and Magalí Arriola,

When including Joseph Havel's
sculptures in the «Floor Plan»
show, I was most interested in how these pieces engage the
outdoor space, and the courtyard as an extension of the main gallery space in this contemplation of a floor plan.
Her most well known
outdoor sculptures include Rose II, which was installed on the façade of the New Museum in 2007 and is currently on view in the Museum of Modern Art
sculpture garden, and Two Orchids, a
sculpture that will rise to 34 feet at the southeast entrance to Central Park beginning March 1, and which was originally
shown at the 56th Venice Biennial.
A key example of the painted black
outdoor sculptures for which Smith is best known, this exhibition is the first time that Source is being
shown in New York.
