Though Amazon has never shared hardware sales numbers, the company said this summer that its e-book sales have
outpaced hardcover sales by 80 percent.
This past July, Amazon shocked everyone when they announced that their ebook sales had
outpaced hardcover sales.
The publishing sky isn't falling, despite the gnashing of teeth and beating of chests by some in publishing after figures showed e-books sales
outpacing hardcover sales.
Kindle book sales continue to
outpace hardcover sales, as well; during the same time period, three times as many Kindle books were sold as were hardcover books (including sales listings for books that have no Kindle edition).

According to Amazon, e-books are now outselling
hardcover books in its Web store, and company CEO Jeff Bezos has predicted that
sales of digital books will
outpace those of paperback books within a year.

Amazon said that over the past three months Kindle Books have
