like this; such elements might have worked had the movie claimed to be a realistic portrayal of young adults, but when you have a
character as
outrageous as Stifler, that's clearly not the case.
There's something to be said for a comedy that doesn't rely too heavily on
outrageous scenarios to get laughs, but instead presents relatable
characters talking
like real people.
Example: In an amusingly awkward restaurant sequence, bringing together Deanna with her best friend (Rudolph), the college boy Deanna met at a frat party (Luke Benward, sweetly smitten) and various other
characters, there's an
outrageous relationship reveal that works
like crazy with an audience.
It's nearly all in the hands of Marique (Rose McGowan), Zym's daughter, who is easily the most
outrageous character in the film, from her partially shaved scalp to the Freddy Krueger -
