oven is my all - time favorite method — I just love that crust that it develops
without losing the wonderful interior texture
and flavor.
Bake without taking the water dish out of the
oven for about 55 minutes or until the edges slightly become golden
and the middle is just slightly wiggly.
Then
without effort (except for turning the timer on) you wait
and stare through
oven glass while your seemingly over kneaded dough
bakes to a perfect crisp you can't wait to share.
Position a rack in the center of the
oven and heat the
oven to 325 °F on convection
bake or to 350 °F
without convection.
Put it back in
oven (
without the weights)
and bake it for an additional 7 minutes.
When the weather is warm
and you'd rather be out having fun than
baking in a hot kitchen, you need tasty treats that you can whip up
without turning on the
oven.

I made a thin layer of the dough on
baking paper by pressing it
and shaping it with my hands (rolling pin just didn't work for me but I can imagine it would work if I put another sheet of
baking paper over the dough to avoid contact of the dough with the rolling pin), then I cut it with pizza cutter into little squares, made holes in each square with a fork
and baked it *
without any turning * for 30 minutes in the
oven preheated to 170 degrees Celsius (350 F).
Preheat
oven to 375 degrees
and lightly grease a
baking sheet * (if you are using an aluminum cookie sheet, make sure it's completely flat
without any indentations).
Without removing the pan from the
oven, turn the
oven down to 375F
and continue
baking for 10 - 12 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
As much as I love
baking, sometimes you just want your yummy, yummy snack

oven...
and the hardest part about making these granola bars is allowing them to set before eating them!

It was left to rise for three hours at the room temperature (summer)
and then
