Over the bridge on Level 4 of the Boiler House — housing art from 1900 on — the «Materials and Objects» displays relay the same message, showing how artists from Picasso to El Anatsui «have embraced a range of new materials and techniques».
While the Syracuse University Art Collection has evolved over 135 years of active collecting, its mission continues to follow Dr. Comfort's original intent: to establish a resource that provides meaningful encounters with objects through the acquisition, preservation and interpretation of the collection to the University community of students, faculty and staff, alumni, and to the region's general public.
Today, the collection is comprised of nearly 45,000 objects and enjoys a national reputation for its print collection containing over 25,000 examples of graphic art.
Her work has been in over eighty exhibitions, including State of the Art: Discovering American Art Now at the Crystal Bridges Museum in Arkansas and Beyond the Objects: The 72nd Scripps Ceramics Annual.

The American art collection consists of over 1,000 paintings, [4] 800 sculptures, and 3,000 decorative arts objects.
Opening: «Marcel Wanders: Portraits» at Friedman Benda A celebrated Dutch designer, art director and co-founder of the distinguished design label Moooi, Marcel Wanders has been creating objects and identities for Alessi, Bisazza, KLM, Swarovski, Puma and other major brands for over 20 years.
In diverse ways, the six artists invited to present solo projects reconsider objects and concepts from art history, showing how works and ideas transform over time and in front of different audiences.
Laura Owens will feature over 60 paintings and objects from the mid-1990s until today and highlights the evolution of her art over the past few years, showing how the early work sets the stage for gripping new paintings and installations.
