While there is little doubt
education has been a reliable part of the Labor brand
over the past decade, this explanation alone misses something crucial about why school funding in particular has been foregrounded rather than many
other issues in schools.
As in
other areas of
education, however we see divisiveness among educators and parents
over some very fundamental questions concerning not only the Common Core, but also
issues related to teacher creativity and parental choice.

issues than their counterparts in almost any
other state, initiative has been left to local school districts, and little has happened.
As we demonstrated in our 2015 analysis of the Common Core debate on Twitter, the dispute about the standards was largely a proxy war
over other politically - charged
issues, including opposition to a federal role in
education, which many believe should be the domain of state and local
education policy; a fear that the Common Core could become a gateway for access to data on children that might be used for exploitive purposes rather than to inform educational improvement; a source for the proliferation of testing which has come to oppressively dominate
education; a way for business interests to exploit public
education for private gain; or a belief that an emphasis on standards reform distracts from the deeper underlying causes of low educational performance, which include poverty and social inequity.
Despite the cacophony
over the Common Core State Standards, new assessments, teacher evaluation, portfolio districts, and
other hot - button
issues,
education leaders are bearing down ever harder on tried - and - true school reform strategies.
When we
issued our first loans in March of 2012, it was hard not to be intimidated by the mountain of work we knew it'd take to build a company that within four years would

education courses, and be able to save borrowers $ 55 million in 2016 versus what they'd likely pay in interest at

education requirements, does not care enough about what the majority of the public thinks about them, does not heed the warnings of professionals within the culture, does not heed the warnings of commenters on REM about this
issue (
over the past five years or so) and too often crosses its fingers when conducting double - enders, hoping that neither opposing parties to the transactions find out what was or was not said or revealed that should have been said or revealed.
