The pancakes are fluffy and golden and light, and the blueberry
syrup is delicious, fragrant and beautiful without being
overly sweet.
Just made this on this cold, drizzly day and it was perfect — dense, moist, not
overly sweet (used < 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1/4 maple
syrup, but added a 4th banana since mine were small).
Made with maple
syrup, these aren't
overly sweet.

overly sweet, and the tartness of the cranberries balances out the sweetness from the coconut sugar and maple
syrup.
You'll still get a
sweet, but not
overly syrup - y cocktail when using the agave nectar.
The
syrup for these apricots isn't
overly sweet, which is something I prefer.
Notes: I prefer to use the 1/2 cup measurement for both the pure maple
syrup and coconut oil (because I'm not a fan of clumpy cereal granola or
overly sweet granola) but if you are a fan of super clumpy and / or
sweet cereal granola, use 3/4 cup for both (you'll have to follow another step in the recipe to ensure the granola is clumpy, BTW).
This is not an
overly sweet / sugary cake, however if you use all maple
syrup (the
sweetest of the options) it should be fine, but everyone's tastebuds are different.
I don't like
overly -
sweet cakes, so I reduced the sweetness of this loaf by 1/2 and used maple
syrup instead of pure sugar.
What a great recipe, I love maple
syrup and the fact they are not
overly sweet makes them a perfect breakfast after all the sugar crash mid-morning is hard if you have a too sugary breakfast.
Once your taste buds adjust you will realize that sugar is
overly sweet and flavourless and you will in fact prefer the taste of natural sweeteners such as honey, dates, or organic maple
syrup.
They are not
overly sweet since there is only a small amount of maple
syrup in the recipe which also makes them a healthier option then traditional muffins or baked items.
A few years ago I came up with a brownie recipe modeled after Outback Steakhouse's «Chocolate Thunder from Down Under» and holy smokes was it amazing (after much tweaking...) I'm really not a fan of honey in anything other than tea so I used just a tad of maple
syrup because the dark chocolate bars I used had some sweetener as well and I don't really like an
overly sweet treat.
