While the focus remains on saving dogs from California's high -
intake shelters, some of the dogs come into rescue as
owner surrenders or homeless strays.

Historically, many shelters have taken pride in offering immediate
intake for any stray or
owner surrendered cat, regardless of the condition of the cat, the number of cats already in the shelter, or the capacity to assure a live outcome for these animals.
While we do take some
owner surrenders on a case by case basis, we
intake most of our animals from local metro Atlanta (kill shelters) Animal Controls.
This can be done for various levels of shelter
intake (e.g. strays,
owner -
surrenders, puppy and kitten litter
intakes) as well as spay / neuter services delivered in the community.
Considerations for
Intake /
Surrender: Dogs from shelters are given first priority and
owner surrendered dogs are accepted when there is space available.
During times of high
intake or when our shelter is full, accepting
owner surrendered animals may be completely suspended.
