Paint which is very similar to Annie Sloan Chalk

I am going to try your chalk
paint recipe and was wondering if you need to use a special type
of paint... like flat as opposed to semi gloss or satin?
I had a dark grayish blue mirror and I used white latex plaster
of Paris
recipe and at first it was so thick so then I added more water and then it got dinner but then you got chunkier so then I added some fresh
paint some gray
paint to it and it came out to the thin thinner consistency so I
painted it white and the gray over it it just doesn't look right what can I do

When you have a small item that you want to
paint, but don't want to have the expense
of buying an entire quart or gallon
of paint in the color you want you can use craft
paint as long as you use the Calcium Carbonate Powder
recipe (CCP).
I did try the craft
paint recipe with Plaster
of Paris once, for my boys nightstand, and it worked out okay.
Can I use your plaster
of paris / Calcium Carbonate

recipe you can use any type
of paint.

painting the tray with DIY chalk
paint (
Recipe HERE) in Behr's Bit
of Sugar, I sanded and waxed all but the bottom
of the inside.
It is when you use Plaster
of Paris or the non-sanded grout
recipe with
paint + primer formulas that the
paint can become sludge.
Craft
paint will bind up with Plaster
of Paris and Non-sanded grout
recipes because it has an acrylic in it.
Our (crazy) city & state regulations prohibit the use
of paints w / certain ingredients in them and this could be the ONLY answer I have to explain a poor DIY chalk
paint recipe outcome!
I would use the Calcium Carbonate and Plaster
of Paris
recipe since it is the most durable
of the DIY chalk
paint mixes I have made.
The
paint glides on and can be used with chalk
paint recipes using calcium carbonate and plaster
of Paris.
If you want to age your piece by sanding a lot
of the
paint off, don't use this
recipe, use the Calcium Carbonate Powder alone.
