think you are talking about a blackboard /
chalkboard surface as opposed to a Chalkpaint ie flat milk like
paint not meant for writing on with chalk but as a flat finish on furniture.
Give your
paint another good stir or two and then brush one coat onto your
chalkboard surface.

paint sit while you prep the
surface of your
chalkboard by sanding it well, then cleaning it with TSP Substitute.
