painted planked wall (that would extend all the way into the living room) and some kind of gray - green painted island.
We just finished installing and

I feel totally paralyzed because I love the cottage look —
planked walls, white wood work — with some whimsy thrown in, but I live in a very traditional colonial with cherry woodwork that my husband does not want to
paint.

planks)- so not only will the bed & bedding not be touching whichever

We are just completing a renovation in a new to us home in the mountains and in the great room / kitchen / main floor we have medium hickory distressed wide
plank floors, BM seashell

walls, white cabinets in kitchen, lots of wood antique furniture and several rustic wood pieces, and white / natural slipcovered sofa and chairs.
Yes, we are
painting the ceiling and adding more
painted planks to the small amount of
wall space we have (same color as our dining room
planks, simply white Benjamin Moore).
All of our
plank walls are
painted — except for the foyer that has wood
walls made from the backside of beadboard.
We just did wood
planked walls in our kitchen, that I
painted yellow with some gray to tone it down a bit.
The idea of
painting the vent and door bell ringer the same colour as the
wall is the only way to «hide» them and i think the wood
plank is more forgiving and they will become «lost» when you decorate, as you have indicated,... otherwise as the
wall is
painted now they are obvious and your eye is drawn to them everytime.
Now we are ready to add the
plank wall treatment and
paint!

walls was more labor intensive than actually putting up the
planks.
I would use the $ 100 for
paint and a great mirror I saw at Lowes for the
planked wall above them mantle.
What you should do next is
paint the
wall the color you plan to
paint your
planks.
I have actually
painted an entire
plank wall «ombre - style» using seven different grays that some stupi — I mean — generous person left on the Orphaned Samples table.
