Good question — we wanted to remove it (I did concrete countertops at our first house and regretted not taking it out) well, long story short we ended up not doing it again and we laid
painters tape across the edge and 1/4 inch onto the countertop as well, used a straight edge razor to slice off the excess and it covered the sink perfectly!!

To paint the contrast stripes we put up the
painters tape, made sure it was truly straight (did the «
across the room eyeball test»), and then added some serious pressure over the
tape to make sure it was adhered as tightly as humanly possible.
I measured
across the floor and marked my completed width, then used
painters tape and a speed square t0 draw a line up the length of the wall.
