did when finishing the
painting job
in the
kitchen.
If you are extremely motivated and have the time,
painting kitchen cabinets can be
done in about five days — but if you value your sanity and you're
painting backsplash or ceiling walls, I recommend
doing it
in stages.

We didn't support our abstract painters
in Cornwall and championed «
kitchen sink» artists, we haven't been collecting «modern art»
in the 20th C, which is why the Tate collection is so poor, we have a «literary» understanding of
painting, we are «academicizing» fine art
in our educational institutions, we need to re-think what are problem with abstraction really is...
You don't really want to say that you plan on
painting your
kitchen blue
in three years, or you want to have the perfect husband, or you're planning on having two pugs and running a microbrewery from your back yard.
I also
do kitchen and bath updates,
paint flooring etc. basically make it cosmetically really nice to get top dollar
in my market and also be able to
do cash out Refi.
My goal for 2007 is to brow beat my painter into fixing that awful spray
paint job he
did yesterday on my new rehabbed
kitchen cabinets, finish the bathroom
in the same house (at the stud level) and FSBO my 3/2 project by the spring market.
Hi Ingrid, yes we
did look up similar homes
in the area and yes they
do have pantries, we just weren't sure if it would increase the value to the property, but we updated the
kitchen with granite counter tops and have
painted the cabniets we invested
in the
kitchen close to $ 3k, only because the cabniets are
in very good condition I just
painted the cabniets and the
kitchen walls and hired a pro for the granite $ 1500 for the slab and intallation, and we got gently used stainless steel appliances.
That's not how we
do though so I fixed up the
kitchen finished part of the basement and will have all rooms freshly
painted by the time we want to sell it
in a year.
Hi Diana, you're right I never
did mention the
paint color of the
kitchen in the post.
Can you use the chalk
paint on
doing a window
in my
kitchen??? If so how
do you get it without having the brush strokes??? What type of brush should be used??? Thank you,
What color and brand of
paint did you use
in your
kitchen and dining area?

Don't play it safe — Ikea's white farmhouse sink pops against the high - gloss peacock blue
paint (Varsity Blues by Benjamin Moore) that covers the walls, cabinets, and trim
in this upstate New York home's
kitchen.
I don't really have many handy talents, but I can help you
paint adn I'm learning to build little by little on small projects around my house (shelves
in the kids room, new tabletop for my
kitchen table).
I recently
did a little work
in my
kitchen (not a total overhaul, just
paint and new countertops) and I went with the oiled soapstone laminate with my white cabinets and I love it!
We
painted our
kitchen cabinets
in white when we moved
in here — but I
do have a tiny black island, black china cabinet and black bar stools!
I've
painted one of my oak bathroom vanities, and I like that too, but I don't want to
do it to my
kitchen cabinets because it would be impossible to return to the original finish at some point
in the future.
We love it so much that we are going to
do this
in our
kitchen too and
paint / whitewash it
in there.
Kevin and Layla, I'm down on my knees BEGGING for your help!!!! We've run out of steam!!!!! We're
in the middle of a major remodel, majority of big things are purchased, and the
kitchen is almost complete, BUT...... we still have to decorate and
do the master bath!!!! We can't come up with a
paint scheme and that's a major hold up.
Nothing has been really
done to the
kitchen since we moved
in almost 3 years ago except for
painting the walls.
Kitchens don't have to look clinical — give yours a welcoming vintage feel by
painting the units
in a soft tone such as pale lilac.
Do you perhaps have a secondary recommendation for a good white
paint for
kitchen cabinets if Muralo is not available
in our area?
We just
did wood planked walls
in our
kitchen, that I
painted yellow with some gray to tone it down a bit.
We are dreaming of a built
in breakfast nook,
painting kitchen cabinets and installing chopping block counters, an interior barn door, creating an outdoor living space... pretty much anything so our house doesn't scream boring builders grade!
Also, one trick I learned years ago from military wives who loved to decorate but couldn't permanently wallpaper, etc. their quarters was to use liquid starch to apply fabric to the walls, http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y24/paulinepdm/Decorating–MyHome/?action=view¤t=PA290009xx.jpg it has been 10 years now since I
did this to my Master Bathroom and it is still up there just fine despite lots of showers, humidity, etc. that picture and others (showing my padded fabric wall covering — black toile

painted black squares on
kitchen floor too, but not for concealment, just to change things a bit
in my very small
kitchen.
amy i am loving this as much as i have all of your twig projects, i am bestowing a bachelors degree
in twigology on you ha ha i am
doing pretty good
painting kitchen cabinets slowly but surely may have them
done by next summer xx
Since paying a professional to
paint kitchen cabinets the right way is simply not cheap (and I was not interested
in doing it myself again this time), a huge sale on doors that actually fit our cabinets was such a blessing!
I actually still have things that I need to
do in the
kitchen (like lighting) and the lower cabinets need to be repainted, since I made the mistake of trusting a
paint can that said it didn't need sealer.
Like you have said many times black and white
in floor tiles are timeless and if you
do paint black
in your
kitchen only
do the base cabinets.
But there are so many corners
in my
kitchen, I don't plan on
painting it again.
In our first house we had
done a cosmetic
kitchen renovation,
painting all the cabinets and walls and buying new appliances.
It's funny that you posted this today because I'm sitting at work daydreaming about
painting my bathroom and installing the new vanity top when I still have touch up
painting to
do in the office — cabinet doors to replace
in the
kitchen - toekick and shoe molding to put on — picture ledges to hang (frames to buy and pictures to print * ahem * to put
in frames)....
I will be buying new white
kitchen cabinets (not
painting mine) and want to add a distressed look
in the detailed areas only (I don't want to distress the whole cabinet because it changes the real white color to a cream color).
Good news is my painters will return Tuesday to
paint the cabinet
in the
kitchen and finish filling (caulking) and
painting the rest of the wainscoting through the entry over the next week (we didn't have enough time to
paint all that wainscoting before the holidays!).
Medium oak cabinets
in the
kitchen bathrooms and «linen» cabinet at the end of the hallway will be
painted some white or light
in keeping with the style of my house plus my choice
in floor color (can't be hardwood but I'm learning toward wood - look porcelain tile similar to what Kate at CentsationalGirl
did in her Nevada home.
While the functional
kitchen part of the remodel is essentially
done, the cabinets STILL need to be
painted (my painter is no where to be found and apparently there are a shortage of good reliable painters
in my area.)
While most of my cabinets were finally
painted right before Christmas (along with my family room walls and trim and part of the horizontal planking
in my little hall) my one «open cabinet»
in the
kitchen was not able to be
painted as it had to have some finishing work
done on the inside of it first.
It's not just a feeling that has come from finally having completed projects like fresh
paint on the brick and new countertops
in our
kitchen, although we
do feel so grateful to be on the precipice of being able to cook a proper Christmas dinner
in a new oven.
