The oil paint makes the finish just a bit glossier than latex, but it makes cleaning and wiping down the cabinets a lot easier too!

The bathroom is a gut, but say you're not made of money and can't afford to gut the kitchen too, you could put some molding on the cabinet doors and crown molding on the top of them, paint them and add some nice hardware.

we spent a fortune on our cherry cabinets and there is no painting them, but if we decide to stay her for a while, then the island is definitely getting a facelift... maybe the counters too... I think re-painting the island darker color since it gets the most «abuse» may be an option....
