My husband and I (mostly my husband) have been cleaning
out and reorganizing the storage side
of our basement and we've unearthed a whole
pile of furniture I have yet to
paint!
A network
of little pathways through the rubbish are made, moving coconuts and old rusty
paint cans
out of the way so the wheelbarrow can transport one basket at a time to a
pile at the back
of the dump, glass crushing facilities, a modest concrete building with one room for shade for equipment and a small tarped area to sit and shell the lids off in a little bit
of shade!
Most
of the tour consisted
of stops in picturesque villages straight
out of a Thomas Kinkade
painting, where our group would
pile out of the van for 15 minutes, take the obligatory snapshots, and then
pile back in to the next stop and repeat.
Oh, and I refer to it as «green stuff» because the animation
of the attack was so
out of place that it just looked like a
pile of green
paint was flying at you.

paintings and drawings from those same years, Blaine
piles on arbitrary shapes
out of Picasso, Léger, or Matisse.

piles of carefully amalgamated bric - a-brac.
Augaitis's artists have raided the junk
piles, warehouses, hard ware stores and toy boxes
of modern industrial culture, pulling
out hospital sheets, toilet seats, crowbars, Cheerios, things that go squish and everything else you can think
of, except the high art stuff
of oil
paint and marble.
In her
painting Fulcrum (1998 — 99), the huge canvas overflows with lusciously
painted female flesh; weighted bodies are spread
out and
piled into a mountain, one on top
of the other, all locked together in a tight embrace.
This densely packed work has a bright rhombus at its core, an intense accretion
of thick white, silver and grey impasto that builds
out from the surface in
piled paint mixed with beach sand, taking texture to the point
of sculpture.
My Christmas decor is just fine and perfectly placed and gorgeous...... BUT, I decided to redo my daughters room right in the middle
of all the holiday rush so, between all the perfectly placed Christmas decor are BOXES
of stuff pulled
out of her room, book shelves in the tiny hallway we are squeezing around,
piles of clothes and everything else under the sun that will need to go back in that room when I'm done
painting!!!
