The show opens on an explosive installation in the mezzanine that pivots from 1966 to 2009 with film, sculpture and paintings referencing everything from the Taliban to UFOs to the German working class.
Previous rounds have been broad in scope and concept, ranging from topics of activism to architecture, and including disciplines such as design, media arts, drawing, film, installation, intervention, literature, painting, performance, photography, print making, sculpture, and others, such as scientific field work.
From early figurative paintings, through collages and video installations, to her radical work in dance and performance, Ms. Schneemann has consistently — insistently — made the personal political, bridging divides between eras and cultures, even species.
