He guided us through his experiences as an artist showing us his wide range of materials used and processes employed, from suspended natural materials to subway station mosaics to geometric
paintings on planks of wood.

Mr. McCracken hit
on the
plank idea in 1966, in a period when artists across the stylistic spectrum and
on both coasts were combining aspects of
painting and sculpture in their work and many were experimenting with sleek, impersonal surfaces.
In the next room — a low - ceilinged former workshop — Barlow gathered pipes,
planks and flattened cardboard boxes, taping them together to form a ceiling - scratching bundle, clad
on one side with a mosaic of irregularly sized,
painted rectangles of plywood joined into a flat sheet to form a canvas - insinuating plane (untitled: stashhoarding).
Middlebrook, who is based in New York and has not exhibited

plank of wood — or, in subsequent decades, a sheet of aluminum — only to excise the image with an electric saw.
Richter's
planks of high keyed colour limply floating
on blurry photo - like painterly residue is a sort of «sign» for an «abstract
painting» - it is not the thing itself.
We have put down vinyl
planks in an entry way and in a unit that had
painted hardwood floors and have been happy with the flooring so far and plan to use it

We are just completing a renovation in a new to us home in the mountains and in the great room / kitchen / main floor we have medium hickory distressed wide
plank floors, BM seashell
paint on walls, white cabinets in kitchen, lots of wood antique furniture and several rustic wood pieces, and white / natural slipcovered sofa and chairs.
I was thinking I would «assemble» the
planks on the saw horses and then
paint them so as not to get
paint on the tongue and groove part so they go together better
on the ceiling.
I am in the process of planning to build a new house and really love the
planked wood look... I plan
on having vaulted ceilings and would love to
plank those too in my combined living and dining... how difficult is that and I want it
painted all white for a cottage look...
I have actually
painted an entire
plank wall «ombre - style» using seven different grays that some stupi — I mean — generous person left
on the Orphaned Samples table.
We installed wood
planks on the walls and floors and
painted the walls the same color as our exterior brick (which we left exposed in this space.)

With my fireplace all spruced up with the new stone front, wood
planked area above and fresh
paint on the surround and mantel, I don't want it to get filled with holes just so I can hang Christmas decorations.
As you can see, they added white -
painted wood
planks to the wall, and finished it off with tile
on the hearth and surround.
Note: The
planks on the right side of the fireplace are
painted Simply White, but the
planks on the left side of the fireplace still only have primer
on them.
We took home one pack of
planks that day, and I promptly laid them out
on a drop cloth and gave them two coats and primer, and two coats of leftover Moonlight White (BM)
paint.
If we were stranded
on an island and given the keys to the perfect cottage it would come to no surprise to see a huge porch with
planked walls
painted a crisp white.
I updated my IKEA table a few years back to recreate a farmhouse table simply by
painting the legs and chairs white and adding new wood
planks on the tabletop.

I dig typography and all things monogrammed, gray,
painted furniture, pops of bright color, plaid, photography, white, clean lines, old cameras, black, topiaries, gingham, bold graphics, red, wreaths, chevron, orbs, paisley, natural fiber rugs, green, board and batten, mercury glass, stripes, wooden
plank walls / ceilings, buffalo check, and ceramic animals (that don't look too realistic)-- I could ramble
on for a while...

paint it glossy like the baseboard or do you
paint it flat like the other walls?
Hand
painted wood floors break up all of the wood but I really like the
planks on the wall running perpendicular to the floor.
Having taken
on the One Room Challenge this Spring, our life has been totally consumed with
painting,
plank walls and all things cabin themed!
