But we changed the lighting, added a coffered ceiling detail and
more panel moulding — along with some new paint of course!
We purchased a flat top fence post cap, wood deck post deck trim, some
wall panel moulding (to trim out the base), and a deck post finial to crown the top of the post.
co pulled up the carpet that was covering them,
made panel moulding for the stairwell and then gave it all a fresh coat of Sherwin Williams Dover White semi gloss.
Since we're
putting panel moulding above and below the chair rail, I decided to go with 32 inches off the floor.

Be sure to fill any nail holes (even small ones left by a Brad Nailer) and then caulk the edges of
the panel moulding with paintable caulking for a professional and seamless look.
I can't believe what a huge difference adding

The major changes were eliminating the popcorn ceiling, installing dark hardwood (love the contrast of dark floors and light walls) and adding
the panel moulding and trim — getting the shell right.
The trim from Metrie went up last week —
panel moulding, chair rail and crown.
For the walls, top of the baseboard and along the ceiling, we went with Metrie's 3 1/2 ″ flat stock mdf and finished it off with a 1/2 ″
panel mould.
