Again and again, among the families I treat as a psychologist, I see a disconnect between the skill set that
parents are pushing (compete
like crazy, get good grades, over-prep for tests, go to a prestigious college, make lots of money) and the assets and attitudes that actually bring young
people success in college, at work, in relationships, and in life.
But the cool thing was that it was — they were just really nice and accepting, and you know, I realized
like I'm not the first
person to get divorced, and it was so
crazy because I did this 90 - day journey, and I'm you know, focusing on
like my purpose,
like what I really want to do in this world and planning my day better,
like respecting my boundaries, and I'm — I'm just, I'm making all of these good decisions, and I remember this
like moment where it was
like towards the end of the 90 days and I was actually driving up to go visit my
parents and they live up in the country, and it's
like a 2 1/2 - hour drive and I stopped at a fruit stand.
