All this was
part of our itinerary to visit both Australia and New Zealand thanks to free
award tickets and in business class!
If you are collecting miles with United, Avianca, TACA, or US Airways (soon to be
part of One World Alliance), you don't need to worry about it because they don't pass on fuel surcharges to
award tickets.
Delta Airlines codeshares with Alaska Airlines and
part of the Gold Medallion benefits is being able to receive complimentary upgrades on
award tickets.
- Miles & More is the mileage program
of Lufthansa as well as Austrian and SWISS, and members get more access to premium
award tickets - All three airlines are
part of Star Alliance, so you can use these miles on any
of the 27 partner airlines including US Airways and United (and Miles & More
awards can be booked one - way, which US Airways
awards can not)- You can book a roundtrip domestic business class
award on United and US Airways for 35,000 miles, or a first class
ticket for 50,000 miles.
But before getting to those lists, let's consider other types
of tickets that should be
