Simultaneously rooted in
a particular immigrant experience while remaining completely accessible to others, it is an immigrant story, an American story, a coming of age story, a story about family journeys, and, ultimately, a story about hope, loss, and change.
It must take an intersectional approach, recognizing that
particular groups of women and girls — including First Nations, Inuit, Métis, racialized, disabled, refugee,
immigrant, transgender, lesbian, bisexual and single parent women and girls —
experience particular forms of discrimination and deepened disadvantage.
