Dinner Party and effectively invented feminist art, Chicago lived in Los Angeles, where she made sculptural
work inspired largely by the
particular branch of Californian abstraction known as «finish fetish» and exemplified by the
work of artists like John MacCracken, Robert Irwin, and James Turrell.
