past 500 million years to local folks in this very rural region of upstate New York (before showing them the
changes occurring recently and the reasons behind them).
Climate change skepticism is rooted more in psychology than ecology, and as a result, skeptics and believers tend to
talk past each other.

I think the most telling part of this interview was the end, when Bill Nye quit trying to even

After this discussion, Brian gave his

climate change working at Crater Lake National Park for the
past 25 years.
When someone
talks about
climate change and warming in particular it would only make sense if they meant that the average temperature accross the earths surface is warmer than it used to be at some point in the
past.
My position is the following: 1) the extent of
past human interference with global
climate is likely somewhat exaggerated, 2) the dangers of future human - induced
climate change are greatly exaggerated (for example, I heard Ira Flatow a couple of weeks ago
talking about the East coast being under water in 50 years — which is complete piffle), 3) the numerical global
climate do a poor job of
past reconstruction and are unlikely to be very reliable in predicting the consequences of future human activity.
