If the
patient's history, diet
diary, elimination diet, or oral
food challenge suggests a specific
food allergy is likely, the doctor may use tests that can more objectively measure an allergic response to
food.
Then, between the first and second appointments, I have my
patients track their
foods in a diet
diary over the course of one to two weeks.
The accuracy with which my
patients report their
food intake from the day before depends on their memories, perceptions, and diligence in recording, among other things, and this can compare drastically with their diet
diaries that are recorded in real time.
And so if
patients start feeling tired, one of the first things we'll do is we'll throw their
food diary into a MyFitnessPal just to one, get a look at their macros, but two, to make they're getting enough calories in because no matter what you're doing, with the mitochondrial, adrenal, or thyroid support, if you're doing low calorie, you're telling your epigenome that you are in a — a famine, starvation, let's tone down the energy, let's tone down the — the fuel going out because we got ta — we got ta conserve.
I encounter many
patients who think they're doing everything right, but when I look at their
food diary, I can tell their blood sugar is in trouble.
