Claiming a «right» to offend that doesn't go by this principle is neglecting the Christian imperative to be graceful and at
peace with everyone wherever possible.
I would point to Paul's injunction: «If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live
at peace with everyone» (Romans 12:18).
As Christians — people who are called to «make every effort to live
in peace with everyone» (Hebrews 12:14)-- we know it's not the government who prescribes our values.
Romans 12:18 says, «If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at
peace with everyone.»
Paul said we should try to live at
peace with everyone (Romans 12) and never repay evil with evil, but to reach out to the world with the love of Christ.
I support your interpretation of the Scripture, and prey that those who condem you to read Romans 12:16 - 20, so that we may all «live at
peace with everyone.»
«Be at
peace with everyone.
Make every effort to live in
peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
