Feel free to substitute the more readily available
pearl barley instead.
I made this dish on Sunday morning with
pearled barley instead of wheat berries (shorter cooking time) and I used craisins instead of real cranberries and dry fruit.
(I couldn't find grano - even at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's - so I used
pearled barley instead per the recipe's suggestion).

Instead of making risotto with arborio rice, I'd use
barley or
pearled barley.
It only takes 15 mins to cook and can be used
instead of rice, cous cous or
pearl barley.
