Many people have overdeveloped muscle groups attaching to the hips that are twisting
the pelvis out of alignment.
This affects all movement, as well as sitting and sleeping, and can even pull
the pelvis out of alignment.

I had pelvic pain my last pregnancy (currently pg w / my 5th) and my
pelvis went
out of alignment.
They're designed to hold your
pelvis and thighs in the proper position as you move — when they aren't up to the task, your knees drift inward, driving your kneecap
out of alignment.
Plus, sky - high heels can throw your
alignment out of whack; placing all your weight onto the balls
of your feet can cause your
pelvis to tilt forward and arch your back, putting pressure on your hips, lumbar spine, and knees.
When we stand with a hip jutted
out to one side, or tuck the
pelvis in or jut it way forward, this can throw us
out of alignment.
Poor
alignment of your spine and / or hips can put the uterus and / or
pelvis out of place, causing a domino effect that also triggers round ligament pain.
It's the
alignment of the
pelvis and sacrum that gets
out of whack, so knowing where your
pelvis should be as you move throughout the day (sitting, standing and walking), done in conjunction with a few daily squats (get a squatty potty and this doesn't even require extra time!)
When the
pelvis shifts, everything above and below it must also shift
out of ideal
alignment.
