in the usurping of
power, the annihilation of controlling
people, and the end of deceit to achieve noble ends?
There is no evidence of a God and many of us have seen belief
in God sometimes lead to bad things — probably because
people assign
power to God and then speak on his behalf (they «hear»
what he says).
Not to speak for HAA and also with respect, it's not «God»
in government that scares folks, it's the
people who believe they know
what «He» wants based on their preferred holy books and see no problem
in trying to advance their sectarian faith positions utilizing government
powers.
But very often this constant awareness of spiritual climates enables us to also recognising the Lord's heart for a particular /
person / situation and partner with Him
in what He chooses to do through us, perhaps through prayer, releasing of scripture, laying hands, etc.,
in order to release His purpose and
power.
But the theological error that underlies this idealization of violence leads them into a new, a sociopolitical Manicheanism which (like the earlier, metaphysical Manicheanism) is also an idealism, a simplifying resource to help
people participate
in a complicated world where, they know, they had better do
what the
powers that be recommend and take sides.
We would respond, most of us, that we do
in fact bleed, that we know both outrage and anguish for
what, for example, our treachery (on two fronts) and our arrogant
power inflicted and continue to inflict on the lands and
people of Cambodia and Vietnam; or, still a lot of us, for
what we see as our unconscionable role
in the overthrow of Allende.

what do they do, practically nothing but social legislation, anti-abortion, anti-gay, thankfully the American
people pretty much stopped that last night!
I'm no biblical scholar, but this is addressed
in Romans 1:20 «For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities — his eternal
power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from
what has been made, so that

persons involved

The misuse and abuse of religion to consolidate and maintain
power is not new to history, but this new threat,
in new guises and involving such huge numbers of
people, is sufficiently ominous to merit major reexamination and modifications of
what we mean by the terms «God» and «Christianity.»

people's ability to not call it all bullshki is the way that an all
power and omnipresent being (and all knowing, don't forget that) couldn't see the flaws inherant
in the system.
The spirituality of being meaningfully connected to other
people is
what belief
in a higher
power is about.
Western
powers must stop their hypocracy, because when Israel killed 1,500 poor innocent
people in Gaza why they don't say anything to Israel, but when ever they see or get any excuses
in the Islamic World they interfar... but we Muslims know and see
what you doing... and the History will readjust itself again...
