people are a part of my path to publication.
Peer review,
critique groups, freelance book doctors, etc., can all help if you're lucky enough to find the right
people, but I don't think there's any substitute for what an
in - house editor with a vested interest
in your project can bring to the table.

Even if your local or online writing
group doesn't do
critiques, once you get to know
people, you might be able to find others
in the
group willing to exchange writing with you on an individual basis, and thus, a
critique partnership will be born!

in one, I find there's a lot of demand for something to facilitate easier connections between beta readers and writers.

in person, but I was once accidentally copied on an email
in which a writer was condescending about my application to a

You also should consider finding a

in person — or engage beta readers to gain critical third - party feedback.

critique groups, etc. — but it's easy to be caught off guard by the bombs
people will inevitably drop on you

in a creative writing class at a local community college, scheduling Meet Up
groups for
critiques, or attending Comicons or conferences to meet others
in person.
My problem now comes
in that one man
in my
critique group mentioned I should change the POV to 3rd
person limited because Editors will not purchase anything from a first - time author not written
in that POV; and that once I have my first publication I can choose which ever POV I want.
