When only those on roll by year 11 were included, sponsored academies had a 46.3
per cent pass rate for five GCSEs at A * to C.
The school has one teacher for every three students and has a 100

The 2016 GCSE results are out and show a sharp fall of 2.1 percentage points in the
pass rate, down to 66.9
per cent for A * - C grades.
When you see national headlines on the
pass rate, if they are including the six
per cent extra 17 - year - olds who resat maths and English, this will be one reason why the results look so disastrous.
The chief inspector warned that almost one in three secondary schools in the region, which had a GCSE

per cent last year, were inadequate or required improvement, and raised particular concerns about attainment of poorer pupils and those in care.
