Among the economic
costs climate
change is expected to enact on the United States over the next 25 years are: $ 35 million
in annual property losses from hurricanes and other coastal storms, $ 12 billion a year as a result of heat wave - driven demand for electricity, and tens of billions of dollars from the corn and wheat industry due to a 14
percent drop
in crop yields.
Stefan and I pointed out that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change's Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) says we could stay within 450 ppm of carbon dioxide
in the atmosphere at a
cost of a mere 0.06
percent in lost growth a year.
A highly granular assessment of the impacts of climate
change on the US economy suggests that each 1 °C elsius increase
in temperature will
cost 1.2
percent of the country's gross domestic product, on average.
Using the midpoint of each estimate from Juice from Concentrate (6 -
percent increase to levelized
costs and 2.5 -
percent efficiency reduction), the
change in the
cost per kWh for dry - cooling instead of wet - cooling is small but significant.
However,
changing the climate by means of solettas
in space (mirrors made from thin aluminised film) would be easy, and with present technology would
cost a few
percent of one year's GWP.
Meanwhile, a flood of new research has convincingly connected a rise
in extreme weather events, especially droughts and heatwaves, to global climate
change, and a recent report by the DARA Group and Climate Vulnerability Forum finds that climate
change contributes to around 400,000 deaths a year and
costs the world 1.6
percent of its GDP, or $ 1.2 trillion.

Further, with respect to the argument that RESPA permits a creditor to provide consumers with an estimate of settlement
costs, rather than requiring a creditor to disclose the exact amount of a settlement charge early
in the loan origination process, the Bureau observes that the final rule incorporates the current tolerance rules» exceptions (i.e., the amount of settlement charges subject to the zero
percent tolerance category, as well as the ten
percent tolerance category, may
change due to events such as
changed circumstances and borrower - requested
changes).
