A forty
percent complete skeleton, many of her large bones had been preserved through fossilization and from these, and in particular the femur (thigh bone) and pelvis, we know she stood upright and moved about on two legs and it was claimed she walked in the same manner as humans today: a straight legged stride, knees extended, posture upright.
Mark Hallett, who has drawn and painted dinosaurs for museums, scientific publications, National Geographic, and movie studios, recently rendered a newly discovered dinosaur, Seismosaurus, on the basis of only 40
percent of its
skeleton: «A few neck vertebrae, a
complete pelvis, about a third of the tail, and no skull,» he says.
The authors state this partial
skeleton has arm - to - leg proportions differing from the forty
percent complete AL 288 - 1 («Lucy») of this species and the difference is explained by sexual dimorphism (Kadanuumuu is male, Lucy female).
