Andre Gregory's Marfa residency and performance program will be the first collaborative project sponsored by the Chinati Foundation, Lannan Foundation, and Ballroom Marfa, three of the leading non-profit organizations in this far west Texas community that is attracting international attention for its majestic landscape, world class art and a growing number of artists, writers, architects, and designers.

Proyectos Ultravioleta (Guatemala City), winner of the Focus Stand Prize last year, will bring new video and photography work by Regina José Galindo, among the most widely - recognized international artists working in performance.

Athi - Patra Ruga gained international attention through his performance series The Future White Women of Azania (2010 - present) which features fantastical characters — usually played by the artist — whose upper bodies are engulfed by colorful, liquid - filled balloons, while their lower bodies are revealed in stockings and heels.

Sound Spaces opens up MUMA's artistic program to ephemeral presentations by Australian and international artists and musicians, encompassing both acoustic performance and electronics.

The program, also updated, builds on that sense of refreshment with Live, a platform for performances and installations, and the Frieze Artist Award, an international open call for a site - specific work, both curated by Adrienne Edwards.

International in outlook, it draws together artists from every continent and documents the unprecedented variety of approaches and mediums used by today's artists — from oil paintings and bronze sculptures to video installations and performance.

In addition to the four main gallery exhibitions, the organizing institutions will host a series of panels, performances, and events in conjunction with this year's biennial.The biennial will showcase recent works of local and international artists who have been influenced by the cultures and artistic traditions of Mexico and Central and South America.

«The laboratory approach» of the Marina Abramović Studio has the goal of supporting the growth of performance art by promoting the works of emerging artists on an international scale, organizing and collaborating on events using a network of people converging at Location One.
