What we should keep in mind is that
training in different environments will teach the young
dog that every new place is somewhere exciting to learn and
perform their
basic obedience commands.
These youth are assisted by our staff and volunteers who help them
train and bathe
dogs, care for cats, and
perform basic cleaning tasks such as laundry and cleaning kennels.
A great way to set them up for success is
training them in
basic obedience, so they understand what you expect from them, and can
perform some tasks that will lead to reward for both you and your
dog.
A young
dog in particular, although eager to learn, will not be able to
perform difficult tasks until
basic training is learned.
The primary difference between
basic and advanced
training is that after advanced
training, your
dog will be able to
perform all of the commands off leash by responding to your verbal commands.
This course covers
basic obedience, all tasks
trained to mitigate the pre-defined disability,
dog care, grooming, public access and other topics necessary to ensure that the service
dog is able to best
perform his / her job.
