Denver's latest School Performance Framework (SPF) ratings were released last month with considerable fanfare because of the increased number of «Green» schools and the dramatic reduction (by nearly 70 %) in «Red» schools, the lowest
performing school category.

LACES» results stand out even more because the
school has many of the challenges that often sink urban
schools into the lower -
performing category and anchor them there: a predominately urban, minority population; large classes (the average is 29 students in middle -
school classes, 34 in high
school); few computers, no computer lab, and a building that was new when Franklin D. Roosevelt served as president.
The outcomes speak for themselves: 23 of its 26
schools fell into «Priority» status — the
category reserved for the state's very lowest -
performing schools.
They were among the top -
performing schools in recent GCSE and A level results and almost a third are rated outstanding by Ofsted — the most successful
category of non-selective state
schools.
Many of the
schools in the low -
performing category were also in either the always - D or sometimes - D
categories, which were shown above to have made gains relative to all Florida public
schools - probably due to the likelihood that they would receive an F if they did not improve.
An analysis by the Carroll County Public
School District in Virginia shows that the 400 students in the virtual program there

schools statewide, and the site that opened in 2009 was the number - one first - year
school in the state in the high - poverty

schools, there is often a wide range of outcomes, with some
schools performing markedly above or below the average.
Fordham even implicitly shows how its testing approach will eventually impact non-voucher private
school students: «[i] f a private
school's voucher students

categories of a state's accountability system for two consecutive years, then that
school should be declared ineligible to receive new voucher students until it moves to a higher tier of performance (emphasis added).»
