Open primaries are used extensively for candidate selection in the United States, but have no place here, except
perhaps in safe seats.

We have often had, I think, these relationships going only one way (only helping the marginal), where
perhaps what we could do would be to have the marginal helping the
safe seat in less crucial times and
safe helping marginal
in run - up to elections.
These sorts of distortion can be caused by several factors, including tactical voting (as
perhaps in Birmingham), electoral pacts (as
perhaps in North East Lincolnshire), one party piling up votes
in safe seats but losing out
in marginals (as
in Leeds), or turnout being particularly low
in one party's
safe seats (as
in Sefton).
Any one of the aspiring leaders, or indeed Harriet Harman as acting leader, could have pressed for the referendum to include a further, better, option,
perhaps that of STV; but none of them was prepared to do so, not least because going to the Parliamentary Labour party offering a system that would really end
safe seats would reduce MP support
in the leadership election itself.
Does anyone think that
in many
safe Tory
seats at the next general election (Many of which have the Lib Dems
in second place) that the Conservatives will be down by less than the Lib Dems, and so there will
perhaps be increased majorities
in these
seats as a direct result, a la 1992?
I think it's
safe to say that 2017 is looking like it's going to be a year of big changes and
perhaps some uncertainty that will have even the top - selling indie authors shifting nervously
in their
seats.

seat for their arbitration clause, Dubai offers
perhaps the
safest and most practical
seats for arbitration.
