The Guerrilla Girls are not represented by any gallery and have always kicked out against institutions, so there is obvious irony in museums such as the Getty and Tate having their artworks in their permanent collections.
This should not lead the visitor to deem the Peggy Guggenheim Collection's garden simply a pleasant haven, it is also an impressive open - air gallery of masterpieces by artists such as Arp, Duchamp, Ernst, Giacometti, Holzer, Marini, Minguzzi, Merz, Moore, Noguchi, Ono, Paladino and Kapoor, just to name a few, partly coming from the museum permanent collection and partly from long - term loans by other institutions.
But such high profile pressure did have an impact: when Trump announced his executive order banning immigration from seven Muslim - majority countries, the MoMA curatorial staff promptly rehung the permanent collection galleries to prominently feature works by artists from those countries.

Works by Matisse, Degas and Michelangelo have been suggested as sources for the two figures — and its display in the Barber's Red Gallery among the old master paintings of the permanent collection simultaneously suggests the debt and influence of historic art on modern painters.
