The museum's six adjustable ground - floor
galleries feature a combination of long - term and rotating special
exhibitions, including commissions and highlights from the
permanent collection, as well as presentations that spotlight under - recognized bodies of work by pioneering artists.
The
exhibition, «Still Life: 1970s Photorealism» is having its final weekend before the works head back to the Yale University Art
Gallery, where they make their home as part of its
permanent collection.
At the National
Gallery, Sir Michael created an education department, an artist - in - residence program and the Artist's Eye series, in which noted artists were invited to select favorite paintings from the museum's
permanent collection for
exhibition.
The conceptual design proposes
galleries sensitively configured in varying proportions and scales to accommodate the wide variety of works in the
permanent collection and many sizes and types of temporary

The inaugural temporary
exhibition for the
gallery goes to the Irish sculptor Eva Rothschild, whose show of mostly new works engages in a dialogue of form with the
permanent collection of the institution's titular inspiration, English modernist sculptor Barbara Hepworth.

exhibition hosted within the space must be not only mindful of the location and its heritage, but equally must be seen to be doing, and saying, something different.
Since the mid 1980s, Ottersbach's works have been included over one hundred international group and solo
exhibitions and are held in some of the most important international
collections today including the
permanent collections of the Blibliothèque Nationale, Paris, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Getty Center, Los Angeles, and National
Gallery, Canberra Australia amongst others.
Work from the art
gallery's rich

exhibition including 20th century naked portraits from Stanley Spencer's painting of his second wife Nude, Portrait of Patricia Preece (1935) to John Coplan's photographic Self Portrait Upside Down (1992).

By the time I joined Andre Emmerich's
Gallery and my mother died in April 1972, I was at twenty five, already a veteran with six solo shows, numerous appearances in important museum
exhibitions including two Whitney Biennials and my work was in several
permanent and private
collections.
Join us for these informal discussions in the
galleries on a range of topics related to the museum's
permanent collection and the special
exhibition Stuart Davis: In Full Swing.
Some State of the Art works have been on view at Crystal Bridges since the
exhibition debuted, including Gabriel Dawe's thread installation, Plexus No. 27 (2014), in the
permanent collection galleries, and Kim Dickey's ceramic sculpture, Mille - fleur (2011), on the south lawn.
As a DIA curator, I researched our extraordinary painting
collection, enhanced our
permanent galleries by displaying our artwork in new ways, curated temporary
exhibitions, visited private and public art
collections with our patrons, and identified new works for acquisition among many other things — the work curators perform is one of the most interesting in the museum profession because of the multiplicity of duties that it entails.
The more intimate Lower
Gallery often presents works from the
permanent collection, smaller discrete
exhibitions, and work from major shows that require both floors.
Scoggins is in the
permanent collection of MoMA, New York, and in the last several years has enjoyed extensive solo
exhibitions abroad, including shows at Galerie Jeanroch Dard, Paris, France, Seomi & Tuus
Gallery, Seoul, Korea, and Hilger Contemporary, Vienna, Austria.
The Conversations with Collectors series began in 1996 to highlight contemporary collectors who have contributed to the
permanent collection or special
exhibitions at the National
Gallery of Art.
A Real Pony Race for a Bridle is a mixed media installation exhibited as part of the group
exhibition Summer
Collection» 97, for which artists were invited to respond to artefacts housed in the
gallery's
permanent collection.
The
exhibition will present a selection of work from The Valentine - Adelson
Collection and will be mounted in the Hammer's
permanent collection galleries.
