Duo, Google's person - to -
person video calling app that's similar to Apple's Facetime and Microsoft's Skype, will soon be built into Android's messages, phone dialer and contact app for Pixel, Nexus and Android One devices.

On Tuesday, the company also announced Facebook Watch, a feature that allows
people to watch and participate in group chats about
videos, which is similar to another popular
app called Houseparty.
It is an attempt to deliver on Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg's remarks to investors earlier this month that the company was looking for so -
called «anchor content» that would draw
people to the
video tab on Facebook's
app.

But if all you want to do is
call people in the US, you're probably better off using an
app like Skype or WhatsApp (or even Facebook I believe) to
video chat for free, using only WiFi.

Google has quietly made its Duo
video messaging
app far more useful, enabling audio and
video calls even if the
person you're contacting hasn't installed the
app.
If I wanted to contact a member of my team I could use voice
call,
video call, text, messaging
apps, email, social networks, internal online messaging system or — dare I say it — I could approach them in
person.
